Bambu Lab Announces the R1 Laser Engraver and Cutter for September

Bambu Lab has announced the R1, a laser engraver and cutter due in September 2026, and calls it on its product page the first the company has made. The page puts it beside the printers rather than inside one: "From 3D printing to laser, we're building your personal manufacturing hub." There are no specifications, no price and no exact date. Just an email signup.

Bambu Lab published the teaser across its channels on August 13, 2026, under the tagline "A new Ray of making": "ONE MORE TOOL. More power. Made simple. Something new is warming up in the Lab." The render with it shows a single beam cutting the four-square Bambu logo out of a light wood board, clean through the full thickness.

Bambu Lab already sells laser hardware, as modules for the H2D. Both are blue diode lasers at 455 nm, and the difference between them is what they will cut. The 10W stops at 6 mm of basswood. The 40W reaches 15 mm. Bambu Lab claims it goes through thicker plywood in a single pass. Engraving speed splits the same way, 400 mm/s against 1,000.

As of August 13, 2026, an H2D with the 10W module costs $2,149. With the 40W it is $2,699. The EU store lists the same two at 2,149 and 2,549 EUR. An upgrade kit adds the laser to an H2D bought without one, from $698.

No blog post or press release came with the teaser. Until Bambu Lab shows the R1, there is no way to say where it lands against the 40W module it already sells.

What is the Bambu Lab R1?
